In 2013 I bought an Acer Aspire v5 laptop; it is still my laptop today. I do not love it but it is the most longevous laptop I had in my life; also its Intel Core i5 cpu served me well (I do love running 3 compilation jobs simultaneously and browse the Net while they are running!).
Until yesterday I never dusted off its inside…
Lately it started to suddenly turning off by itself, mostly because of too high internal temperature; so I figured it was time to try some dust removal. I browsed YouTube for videos about how to dismantle an Acer Aspire v5 and found some: it is a scary procedure, with lots of screws to unscrew! I did it with fear in my heart. I puffed away dust with compressed air.
It appears it was a successful operation!
The laptop seems to be back to its pristine condition, in which it never turns on the cooling fan; it is very silent. I hope I did not damage the fan. And that’s why it never turns on.
