Vanguard started quoting its etfs on the italian stock exchange. Good! There is no longer need to go to a foreign stock exchange to buy them. Buying on the italian exchange is cheaper for clients of italian banks.
In my humble opinion: they have waited too long! The italian etf market is already satiated with the products of other providers, like iShares. Vanguard’s etfs it will take a significant amount of time to gain momentum, which means small number of traders and wide spread. Maybe we have too many stock exchanges in Europe.
Unfortunately, the unquoted passive index funds (example) are still out of reach for small investors; and they cost more than similar etf products. Also the etfs are in the dividends distribution class, while some unquoted funds are in the dividends accumulation class (which I would prefer).
Shrug.
